The East Winds Kitchen Garden was established in 2017 to stabilise the supply of organic fresh fruit and vegetables to the kitchen. We rotate our crops through the year to supply the kitchen with fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables for guests and staff enjoyment. It is a wonderful opportunity for guests to visit a garden full of locally grown food and see the traditional farming methods used in St Lucia.
In addition to the fruit and vegetable garden we have our own living Banana Museum. An example of every type of banana is grown there and harvested in the traditional St Lucia style before the fruit finds it’s way to the East Winds kitchen.
Both gardens are watered using Water Recycling Plant installed in the hotel in 2017. It means that no water meant for the local population is used in the garden, we have a supply of our own water, recycled on site.
